On the waterfront of the Yukon River, MacBride Museum is a beautiful log building complete with sod roof. This unique architectural style was designed to pay tribute to Yukon pioneers. MacBride interprets Yukon history, focusing on the role of Whitehorse in the development of the Territory. Exhibits illustrate life in early Whitehorse, the Klondike Gold Rush, First Nations, North-West Mounted Police and wildlife. Attractive grounds house historic buildings and transportation artefacts, including Engine 51 of the White Pass & Yukon Route. In summer, take part in daily "hands-on" gold panning demonstrations and see presentations by costumed interpreters.
MacBride's gift shop features Yukon-made souvenirs, crafts and works by artists/musicians. Buy copies of historic photos, books and videos featuring Yukon history.
